The Gran Sasso, with the Corno Grande peak (2914 m.), is the tallest mountain of all the Appennines. Its height allows skiers to enjoy their favorite sport until late april. Campo Imperatore e Montecristo are skiing stations located in the Gran Sasso Laga national park. Dedicated skiers will enjoy the Fondari and Scindarella tracks. The Velino Sirente regional park hosts the skiing stations of Ovindoli - Monte Magnola e Campo Felice, complete with tracks ranging from easy to extremely difficult. Thanks to a cooperation between the skiing stations, the same ski-pass is useable in every one of them. Last, but not least, is the Abruzzo National Park, with Scanno (only 100 km away from L’Aquila) and its four skiing stations: Monte Rotondo, Scanno Passo Godi, Campo Di Giove and Passo San Leonardo.
