Typical Products

pIn L’Aquila there are many typical products, and for every one there’s a gastronomic festival in different periods of the year. Salami, cheese, fruit, vegetables, saffron, truffle, oil, wine, spirits and pasta are only some of the delicacies that can be found in Abruzzo. Our ham can rival with the famous San Daniele. A typical product is an unique type of mortadella made in Campotosto, named “coglioni di mulo” (mule balls), made with first choice lean meat, with a strip of lard in the middle. The most widely known cheese is without a doubt the “pecorino”, made with ewe’s milk, produced in Calascio, Castel Del Monte, Secinaro and Pizzoli, to name a few. The plains of Navelli are the first producer of saffron in Italy, and this high-quality product (manufactured strictly with old-fashioned techniques) is one of the best in the whole world.  lenticchie
